Funeral

These photos were sent in by Cheryl Beasley. No idea whose funeral it was but probably around 1938.
If anyone has any information about the event please contact me.
Please see below the photos for more information.

I had an e-mail from Stephen Evans, Malta. It's possible these photos could show the funerals of airmen lost in a crash in Sicily February 1935.
The story behind this is of 4 RAF seaplanes (Short Singapore III's) bound from England to Singapore. The aircraft set off from Nisida, the Italian Seaplane base near Naples Italy en route for Kalafrana, Malta but one aircraft flew into a mountain near Messina due to thick fog.
The aircraft K3595 burst into flames & all on board were killed. K3594 made it to Malta.
A local man found the wreckage & informed the carabinieri (police) where a team including the Red Cross reached the wreck site. The 9 bodies were removed & taken in coffins 4 miles up the mountain.
HMS Durban of the Mediterranean Fleet carried the bodies to Malta for burial at the Kalkara Naval Cemetery.

Short Singapore III seaplane similar to the aircraft which crashed.
