The bren carrier was adapted on Luqa as a bomb trailer tractor. These 3 photographs were taken on Luqa in 1943.

On the 7th June 1942 Axis aircraft dropped butterfly bombs also called 'crackers'. These were dropped in containers which burst on impact throwing out hundreds of grenades the size of cigarette tins.
Some of these exploded at once while others were detonated by a vehicle going over them.
