72 Squadron
Started the war in the European area of
operations but later moved to North Africa in support of the Tunisian campaign
& then based in Malta to support the Sicily landings.
Later moved to Sicily to support landings on mainland Italy.
Squadron disbanded in Austria, 1946.
Equipped with Spitfire Mark IX's in Tunisia in 1942.
