Italian / Albanian Crises - Overview

In May 1939 the Italian - Albanian crises sparked off increased tension in the Mediterranean. The cruiser Dorsetshire & the troopship Neuralia were sent to Malta to evacuate 300 wives & children of service personnel back to England. Reservists for Malta travelled overland from England through France to Marseilles where they were transported to Malta on the 4 funneled liner Aquitania.
